Today was the annual Christmas party at the club. We met Mimi, Poppy, Uncle T, Aunt Missy and Kenzie for a little Christmas fun. The kids made a little reindeer craft and got to meet Ruldoph. Gillian was not a big fan of the reindeer, but Kenzie loved him! We heard that Santa was there and we went to get pictures.
We ate a little dinner. Had some fun with some new shades.
Then there was a magic show. John and Gillian ran over to watch the show. Daddy and I ate a little more dinner. While I was eating I heard the magician say "Everyone say hello to Gillian!" I jumped up and ran over. Gillian got selected to be an assistant for the show. She did awesome!
After the show we saw the big tree outside get lit and then had time for dessert too!
On Sunday, we picked out our Christmas tree. We met up with Mimi, Poppy, Uncle T, Aunt Missy and Kenzie. Before we searched the field for the perfect tree, we stopped to take a few pictures.
We split up. John helped Mimi and Poppy while Gillian helped me. It didn't take long this year. Gillian posed in front of our tree.
We then got to see Santa! Gillian was super shy and didn't want to sit next to him. John wasn't shy and went right over to Santa. Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas. John proudly told him "I would like Lego Dimensions." Santa told him "Well I'm in the surprise business, I promise there will be a surprise under the Christmas tree."
Gillian eventually sat next to Santa a answered a few questions. She was still a little shy but she was brave.
When we got home the tree got set up outside until we were ready to move it into the living room. Everyone helped move it.
We set up the tree and I finally added lights last night. It's starting to look a lot like Christmas.
A little over 4 years ago I started this little blog. I simply wanted a way to remember all the funny things our kids say or do. I thought it would be something that the kids could look back on. It's become more than just something for me to enjoy. The kids aunts and uncles, great grandparents and cousins all get to laugh at their jokes and adventures.
This is my thousandth post! I told the kids tonight and they couldn't believe it. One thousand seemed like a huge number to them. And me too! Thanks for reading!
We took the kids bowling on Saturday. They were super excited. I got Gillian to pose for a couple of pictures before they turned the lights off and we bowled in the dark.
John loved bowling. He has a style all his own.
Gillian required assistance. She needed a little pep talk before each turn and we finally got her a little ramp to use. After that she had much more fun.
I just checked on the kids. Both of them were still awake. I gave Gillian some kisses. We talked briefly about our elf on the shelf and I said good night. Next I checked on John. I gave him a kiss. He sighed. I asked "What's the matter?" He sighed again and said "Well it's hard to say." So I said "Try. You can tell me anything." He said "I'm just wondering why scientists haven't gone past our solar system." I said "This is what you are worried about?" He said "I'm not worried. I'm just wondering."
Gillian has learned how to count by ten. If you ask her how she learned, she says "From Peg + Cat!" Peg + Cat is a new show that the kids found on Netflix. It's about a little girl, Peg and her cat. It's on PBS and the kids seem to really enjoy it. Anyway, every time Gillian counts to 100 by tens she adds a little extra flair.
She cracks me up. And of course when you ask her where that little bit at the end came from, she says "Peg + Cat." With a little bit of help (from John) I found the episode Gillian learned how to count by ten.
This is the full episode. The song is at the end when Peg is cleaning up the chickens.
