The boyfriend

Tonight in the car, Gillian told John and I, "I have a girlfriend."  John said "You mean, you are someone's girlfriend."  She said "Yea, I a girlfriend."  John asked her, "Who's your boyfriend?"  She proudly announced "Nicholas!"  She has been talking about Nicholas for awhile now. A few weeks ago, she told me that she pushed Julia off of the seesaw because she couldn't see Nicholas. So I wasn't too surprised when she said he was her boyfriend. She then said "We go to the beach together!" I didn't understand this statement, so I said "What?" She said "We was in the sandbox and pretending it was the beach!"
