The Pool

I get emails updated from Monmouth County Park systems. At the beginning of the month, I received an email about the pool at Fort Monmouth Recreation Center. The pool is open to the public and for a nominal fee you can get a daily or monthly pass. Since the recreation center is five minutes from our house, I told Daddy that I wanted to check it out. We went the first weekend of August and bought a family pass for the month. The pool is a decent size and varies in depth from 3 feet to 10 feet.

The kids fell in love (well we all did). The pool is clean and well maintained. Daddy and I loved that it wasn't packed with people. We have been back every weekend since that first trip.

Camp Show 2015

The last week of John's camp they have a camp show.  They had their show on Wednesday and Thursday this week.  This year's camp theme was Candy Land. John's group, the Kit-Kat's, performed "Sweet Caroline."  The boys did an awesome job!

Here is their Wednesday performance.

On Thursday, they did their first performance.

Then the emcee then asked the audience if we wanted to see it again.  Of course we wanted to see it again, but the boys rioted.  They asked the counselors to come down and perform with them.  The counselors wouldn't budge, so the boys ended up running into the auditorium and performed behind the counselors.  It doesn't pay to mess with a group of 8 year old boys.

Last drop off

This is Gillian's last week at The Lincroft Center for Children. She is ready to move on to kindergarten eventhough Mommy isn't. I only drop and pick her up once a week, so my drop offs tend to be filled with drama. But not today. As we approached TLC, I noticed that the kids were outside playing. I said "Gill, all your friends are outside." She said "Wow. That's fast. Let's go right outside." We walked through the gate and she immediately clung to my leg. I knelt down and she hugged me super tight. It was like she knew. She gave me an extra hug and then ran over to play with Clarissa. I ran inside to sign her in and put her stuff in her cubby. As I walked to the car, I could see Gillian and Clarissa sitting at a table chatting. They saw me and waved. Such a big girl.

Thank you Gillian. That extra hug helped Mommy get through this last drop off.

Lucky

I picked John up from camp today and he proudly said "Hey Mom, look what I found on a table today!" He held up a little toy telescope. I said "Wow! Aren't you lucky!" He said "Not really. I'm not wearing any underwear!" Ok. Let me just pause for a second, everyday John goes to camp wearing a bathing suit and a t-shirt. I pack him an extra bathing suit, underwear, a pair of shorts and two towels. I distinctly remember packing underwear this morning. So I said "Where's your underwear?" He said "I couldn't find it!" So either I didn't pack it or there's a pair of boys underwear in the middle of the bunny barn.

Bounce U Party

We had Gillian's birthday party at Bounce U this year. She was so excited to celebrate her big day with all of her friends from school.

The first room had a big basketball court where you could bounce and shoot baskets.  There was also mini obstacle course.  And a big obstacle course where you end up climbing a wall and going down a slide.  The kids entered the room and immediately scattered.  Gillian ended up on the big obstacle course and spent most of her time going down the slide.

John and Gillian went down the big slide together.

Aunt Betty and I even challenged Justin to a couple races of the obstacle course. He won of course, but we had a lot of fun.

Little Kenzie spent most of her time in the basketball court. She could play with the basketballs or just crawl around. All the kids were very careful around her and I think she had fun too!

Finally it was time to move to the second room. The second room had another really big double slide, a bouncer and a climber called the spider. The spider thing was super cool, but very hard. The kids were just a little too short, but it didn't stop them from trying. My nephew, Justin, had no problems and loved it.

This is Gillian climbing the spider.

Gillian and I went down the big slide in the second room together.

Aunt Missy, Kenzie and Gillian went down the big side together.

All the kids!

And a silly face picture!

Next it was time for pizza!

Time for cake and cookies!

All the kids sang Happy Birthday!

S'mores

Today is National S'mores Day! We can't let a day like that go by without celebrating!

On a side note, Gillian has decided that she doesn't like s'mores. I know. Pretty shocking. But lucky for me, cause I got to finish her s'more.

Bingo

Gillian got a Fozen Bingo game for her birthday this year. All day today she wanted to play it. Finally after bath, I said we could play. She found Daddy and asked him to join us. When she came back, she said "Good news! There will be four of us!" We played. Gillian was so excited any time she added a new marker to her board. Daddy and I called "Bingo!" at the same time and won the game. We let John and Gillian continue to play. Gillian won. She stood up and said to John, "I win! I guess you're not so smart afterall!"
